(Santa Fe, NM) We are pleased to announce that Rob Nikolewski has joined the New Mexico Environment Department as our new full-time Communications Director and Policy Advisor. Rob started on Monday and is replacing Jim Winchester, who will continue to direct communications at the Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.
Rob brings a wealth of diverse media experience to the Department. He is a three time Emmy Award-winning journalist who has been serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Capitol Report New Mexico/New Mexico Watchdog, covering public policy, economics, and New Mexico politics from his office in the media room at the Roundhouse since 2010. Rob also authored opinion pieces for the Sunday edition of the Santa Fe New Mexican and was a regular guest on the KNME-TV public affairs program "New Mexico In Focus." He has also worked as a TV sports anchor and reporter, covering the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the NBA Finals. Rob holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, a master's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, and a master's in public administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in New York City.
