Radium Springs, NM - Leasburg Dam State Park is a quiet park along the Rio Grande €”perfect for engaging in bird watching on the banks of the Rio Grande at Leasburg Dam State Park for their Monthly Bird ID Walking Tour on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 8 a.m.

Meet Volunteer Birding Guide CJ Goin at the South Day Use Area. The walking tour is expected to last a couple of hours and will help identify various native birds. While on the tour; you might observe Mockingbird, White wing Dove, various Hummingbird, Chihuahuan Raven, House Finch, Swift and Swallows.

Birders are encouraged to dress warmly with appropriate footwear. Easy to moderate walk along mostly level ground. The event is free for valid New Mexico State Parks annual pass holders; otherwise a $5 per vehicle day use fee applies. This is a family oriented event.

A short 25 minute drive from bustling Las Cruces brings you to this Leasburg Dam State Park is located at 12712 State Park Rd. Radium Springs, NM 88054. From El Paso take I-10 West, exit to I-25 North to Exit 19 - Radium Springs then follow park signs to entrance, turn right. From Alamogordo take Hwy 70 west to I25, then exit I-25 North to Exit 19 - Radium Springs, then follow signs to park entrance, turn right.
