Traffic Report for week of September 13, 2015

Traffic updates are posted on the NMDOT traffic advisory web-site at http://nmroads.com and can be retrieved through our automated system at 511 in New Mexico or 1-800-432-4269 from any line.

I-25/Missouri Bridge - Las Cruces The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with FNF Construction (Contractor) continues work along I-25 and the city roadway enhancements of Missouri Avenue and its intersections of Triviz Drive and Don Roser Drive.

I-25 will continue to have a one lane restriction on I-25 northbound allowing two lanes open for motorist traveling south.  For the next two weeks, FNF will have paving operations along with the construction of sign structures and guard rail in the closed work area of I-25 southbound.  Be cautious of the narrow bridge and please do not follow trucks turning into the work area.

City of Las Cruces work on Missouri Avenue at the intersections of Don Roser Drive and Triviz Drive will be more active in the next few weeks. The south leg of Don Roser Drive between Missouri Avenue and Fairway Drive will continue to be closed.  Wall barrier and pavement markings will need to be placed before the reopening of this section.  There will be a right lane closure on Missouri Avenue eastbound just before the intersection of Triviz Drive.  This closure will extend past the Temple Baptist Church for work on the eastbound sidewalk and driveways.  Don Roser Drive just north of Missouri Avenue will have shoulder restrictions in the north bound lane for 500 feet.  Expect sidewalk and driveway restrictions in these areas. The construction of turn lanes on Triviz Drive will continue.  Please follow pedestrian detours and be cautious of workers in the area.  Complete night road closure of Missouri Avenue between Don Roser Drive and Triviz Drive will be less frequent but necessary to complete intersection work.  Please follow detours or seek alternate routes during this closure.

Don Roser Drive south of Missouri Avenue will continue to be closed for reconstruction of new roadway, sidewalk, and backfilling of retainage wall, curb and gutter.  Contractor will be adding lane restrictions to eastbound lane on Missouri Avenue to work on driveway entrances near Triviz Drive.  Intermittent night closures of Missouri Avenue at Don Roser Drive and Triviz Drive for continued installation of electrical lines for new traffic signalization at these intersections. Continued lane restrictions on I-25 north and southbound traffic as FNF continues with I-25 southbound lane overpass bridge work.

The next Public Meeting will be Wednesday September 23, 2015 which will start promptly at 6:00 pm at the NMDOT Las Cruces Complex located at 750 N. Solano.   I-10/Union Bridge-University - Las Cruces The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with La Calerita Construction (Contractor) continues with work at the I-10/Ramp E Bridge and the I-10/Union Avenue Bridge in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  I-10 westbound lanes will continue to be detoured through the eastbound passing lane. Speed restrictions remain in effect through the I-10 construction zone.  Eastbound access to I-10 at Valley Drive and University Avenue is closed.  Use Conway Avenue to access eastbound I-10. 

N. Main/US 70 - Las Cruces The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with G. Sandoval Construction (Contractor) has placed traffic control devices stationed along N. Main/US-70 from Picacho Avenue to Solano Drive. Traffic will all be shifted over to the outside lanes in order to begin placing the median islands and start paving operations. The City of Las Cruces will be making modifications to their bus route which can be found on their web at:  http://www.las-Cruces.org/Departments/Transportation/Services/RoadRUNNER%20Transit.aspx

Interstate 25, mile marker 35.619 to mile marker 39.0. Currently the contractor is working on guardrail replacement with right lane closures. Beginning September 14th, the Contractor will begin with milling and paving operations with one lane closures. Speed reductions are posted at 55 MPH. 

I-25 - Socorro, NM The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with Villalobos Construction (Contractor) is currently performing bridge repair work to the off ramp to Socorro at exit 147. Traffic is now open to motorists; please proceed with caution, as workers are painting on bridge.  

I-25, T or C, NM - Bridge Repair  The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with Villalobos Construction (Contractor) is currently repairing bridges from mile markers 80.2 to 81.7 with one lane closed in each direction 24/7.  Please use caution. 

I-25, T or C, NM, Alamosa Canyon - Bridge Repair I-25 from mile marker 89 to 90.5 in Alamosa Canyon will have the north bound passing lane closed until further notice. The speed will be dropped to 55 MPH with double fines. 

New Mexico 52/New Mexico 59 - Chip Seal The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with Blue Collar Construction (Contractor) will be working on NM 59 from mile markers 0.00 to 32.00 and New Mexico 52 from mile markers 0.00 to 36.00, where motorist will encounter lane restrictions.  There will be pilot car and flagman operations within work zone.  Working hours will be from Monday to Sunday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.  The Contractor has a beginning date of September 8th. The work is to be completed by end of October, 2015. 

NM 90/Hudson Street Bridge - Silver City The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT)  along with Interstate Highway Construction (IHC) (Contractor) has CLOSED all access over the NM 90/Hudson Street Bridge. The NMDOT and IHC continue with the construction of the bridge overpass. The contractor has installed various notifications alerting motorists of the closures. In addition, the NMDOT will have traffic control advising motorists that the county Truck Bypass route will be available.  The San Vicente Trail will be closed at Corbin Street along with South Mill Road, and under the bridge.   Contractor will be delivering beams on Friday, September 18th and will work on installation for approximately 10 days. Motorists will encounter the bridge beams (Oversize Loads) being shipped via US 180. Please use caution.

The next Public Involvement Meeting is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Wednesday September 16, 2015 at the Grant County Administration Building, 1400 Hwy. 180 E, Silver City, NM 88061. The meeting will start promptly at 6:00 pm with members of the NMDOT and IHC will be available to answer any questions the public may have regarding the project. 

I-10 Lordsburg

NMDOT along with James Hamilton Construction (Contractor) will be performing bridge repair work and partial reconstruction of the roadway at mile marker 29 beginning Monday, September 14th.  Detour signs will be installed for traffic, which will be switched to either the eastbound lane or west bound lane, accordingly. There will be reduced speed through the construction zone to 55 MPH. 

NM 478 Mesquite to Mesilla, NM The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with Paveover Inc. (Contractor) will be working on NM 478 with pilot vehicle and flagging operations. The work will consist of recycling the existing mat in order to aid in extending the longevity of the roadway. Traffic control operations will be Monday to Saturday from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm, and should be complete by the end of September, 2015. Contractor will be working the southbound shoulder area mile makers 18.5 to 0 from the hours of 7:00 am to 4:30 pm; currently working in the southbound lanes from Carver to mile marker 14.00. 

NM 213, Chaparral, NM

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with J & H Supply and Smith and Aguirre Construction (Contractors) will be installing guardrail along NM 213 between mile marker 0 to 6.2 where motorists will encounter lane restriction as a pilot car operation and flagman will be positioned within the work zone working hours Monday to Friday from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm. The contractor should be complete by the beginning of September, 2015.  

Deming Area - Chip Sealing Project The NMDOT Chip Seal Crew will be chip sealing beginning Monday September 14th on NM 143, NM 198 and NM 549 with flagging and pilot car operations.

Las Cruces Projects - City of Las Cruces  Amador Avenue From McSwain Drive to Archuleta road will have a lane closure. Access to residents and businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution.   El Paseo Road From Boutz Road to Farney Avenue will have intermittent lane closures. Access to residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.  Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. 

Madrid Avenue At the intersection with US 70/Main Street will be open with a four way stop. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution.   

Rentfrow Avenue Open to through traffic. 

Wall Avenue Open to through traffic.
