Raton, NM - Sugarite Canyon State Park will be hosting the Master of the Mountains Saturday, September 12, 2015.
Come and cheer on the competitors in this great adventure relay! After a required Friday evening orientation in Raton, N.M. on Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m., the event launches Saturday, Sept. 12th at 8:00 a.m. in Sugarite Canyon State Park with a 10K trail run and a paddle course around Lake Maloya. The relay continues with a nearly 20-mile bicycle route and a shotgun shoot. This event is sponsored by the Raton Department of Parks and Recreation in partnership with N.M. State Parks. "This is a great way to experience the many different terrains at Sugarite Canyon and challenge yourself for your personal best."
Day-use park fees of $5 apply.
To get to Sugarite Canyon State Park, take I-25 exit 452 at Raton, follow NM 72 east for 3.5 miles, and go north on NM 526 for about 2 miles to the visitor center. For additional information call 575445-5607.
