Washington, D.C. (October 11, 2018) Today, Congressman Steve Pearce attended a ceremony at the Roswell International Air Center, hosted by Roswell Mayor Dennis Kintigh, to receive recognition for his bill to expand the Military Airport Program (MAP) being signed into law. Pearce’s bill, which was included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization, was signed into law on Friday, October 5.
“I appreciate Mayor Kintigh and the City of Roswell holding this event today. The Roswell International Air Center is a big part of the economy for the Roswell community and for Chaves County. The simple changes made through my MAP bill will ensure that Roswell and other commercial airports that are former Air Force bases have the opportunity to continue to benefit from the sites. MAP will help Roswell International Air Center in making additional infrastructure improvements and attracting more businesses to the area. Already successful in attracting air related businesses to the area, MAP funding will only make Roswell International Air Center more of an economic driver for the city and Chaves County. I am happy to do my part in providing more opportunity for the city of Roswell and the surrounding areas.”
