The Moses Fire, burning on the Marquez Wildlife Area in McKinley County, is currently estimated at 95 acres and 0% contained. With the assistance of air support, firefighters are making good progress in keeping the fire from spreading into the steep canyons below the Las Carretas mesa that lead to the Laguna Pueblo watershed. Ground crews will continue to secure containment lines and mop up hot spots in the outer perimeter of the fire. Fuels include grass, oak, brush pinion juniper and ponderosa pine. Smoke may continue to be seen as heavy interior fuels burn off.
