New Mexico State University has named Eileen Hogan interim dean of the College of Business, Provost Carol Parker has announced. Hogan begins her role at NMSU Monday, Oct. 18.
Hogan’s career in higher education spans more than four decades and includes teaching and publishing at several business colleges throughout the United States.
In addition to having successful leadership experience and a background working with a wide variety of institutions, Hogan has extensive expertise in navigating the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, or AACSB, accreditation process.
“I am extremely pleased that Dr. Hogan has agreed to serve as interim dean. She brings us extensive experience, especially in the area of AACSB accreditation,” Parker said. “The college will be in good hands under her leadership.”
Hogan has a Ph.D. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, where she also earned an MBA and a bachelor’s degree.
From 1996 to 2015, Hogan served as a professor of management at the College of Business at Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and served as the college’s interim dean and dean between 2003 and 2006. As dean, she initiated the college’s application for AACSB accreditation and formed the School of Business Advisory Board.
After assisting the college obtain its initial AACSB accreditation in 2016, Hogan retired from Kutztown University and took on two interim dean assignments and launched a consulting firm to assist business schools with the AACSB accreditation process.
From July 2017 to May 2018, Hogan served as the interim dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences at Black Hills State University. She also served as the interim dean of the W.A. Franke College of Business at Northern Arizona University from July 2019 to May 2020.
Hogan said she was particularly interested in NMSU because she relates strongly to its mission and values. She comes from a family where her father had an eighth-grade education, and her mom stayed home to raise their family.
“I am very excited to take on this important position and look forward to working with all the people in and around the NMSU College of Business to achieve our goals this year,” Hogan said.
