The Las Cruces International Film Festival selected Golden Globe-winning actor Ron Perlman to receive its “Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment” award at this year’s festival. The ninth annual LCIFF, April 3-7, is supported by New Mexico State University and Visit Las Cruces.

“Ron Perlman is a legendary actor known for his historic roles in “Sons of Anarchy” and “Hellboy,” said LCIFF founder and executive director Ross Marks. “His outstanding and diverse body of work is simply impressive. He is the consummate actor whose values and work ethic reflect the film festival. It is a thrill the festival can honor him in person, and we are beyond ecstatic to have him as the face of the 2024 film festival.”

Past recipients of the award include Giancarlo Esposito, William H. Macy, Danny Trejo, Brendan Fraser, George Lopez, Cybill Shepherd, Richard Dreyfuss and Edward James Olmos.

Perlman is a classically trained actor whose career spans over 30 years, with notable roles in Guillermo del Toro’s “Hellboy” and FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.” He will receive the award at the LCIFF VIP Party after a special screening of “Hellboy” at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 4 followed by a question-and-answer session at the Allen Theatres Cineport 10 at 700 S Telshor Boulevard. VIP tickets to attend the awards ceremony are $150 available now at www.lascrucesfilmfest.com .

Perlman’s next films include “The Retirement Plan,” opposite Nicolas Cage and “Thug,” opposite Liam Neeson. He also stars in the reboot of “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” streaming on Amazon Prime.

The five-day festival will be live in-person at the Allen Theatres Cineport 10. VIP passes are $150, All-Access Passes are $75, Day Passes are $25 and admission to the Outstanding Achievement celebrity screening is $25. Tickets are available now at www.lascrucesfilmfest.com .

Discounted VIP passes will be on sale for $100 only at the upcoming LCIFF Poster Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, where this year’s festival poster will be revealed.

Marks, a NMSU Creative Media Institute professor, founded the festival in 2016. Marks teaches a class for NMSU students on how to produce a film festival, and his students gain valuable experience working with him during the LCIFF every year. The event has drawn crowds of more than 10,000 people to the region.
