Friday, March 1, 2024, is the official first day of the event with schools enjoying the educational activities. These activities are also open to the public with regular museum admission: Adults $7, Senior Citizens (60 and up) $6, Children (4 to 17) $4, Children 3 and under are Free. Then 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday March 2, 2024 and Sunday March 3, 2024. Admission will be $20 per vehicle.
Wonders on Wheels launches an exciting new exhibit March 1st and 2nd. The "Growing New Mexico," exhibit explores the distinctive agriculture and foodways of our state and highlights the importance of corn, beans, and chiles to our New Mexico economy and culture.
Used PNM Power Poles Get New Life at ABQ Biopark Zoo

Poles will be used to enhance bird habitat
(Albuquerque, NM) — Used PNM power poles will be soaring to new heights at the ABQ BioPark Zoo in an electrifying partnership that’s sure to ruffle some feathers.
PNM recently donated a truckload of used wooden power poles to the New Mexico BioPark Society, which accepted them on behalf of the ABQ BioPark Zoo. The donated power poles, which have served their purpose by providing reliable electricity to PNM customers, will now be repurposed to uphold protective netting within the African Aviary bird enclosure.

Traffic Alert White Sands Missile Range February 29, 2024

US 70 Roadblock
LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One office (NMDOT) along with White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) have posted an alert for Thursday, February 29, 2024.
US 70 will be blocked beginning at 6:25 a.m., lasting approximately 1 hour and should be lifted by 7:25 a.m. This block will be located at 'Red Block' (top of San Augustin Pass/Mile Marker 164) and at 'Yellow Block' (near the WSNP/Mile Marker 200). The Las Cruces Gate, Owen Road, and Nike Avenue will also be affected.

Portales, NM – February 28, 2024– Eastern New Mexico University announced today the events planned to celebrate Women’s History Month on the ENMU campus.
“I’m honored to be given this opportunity, especially being a young Navajo woman,” said Abigail Curman, the Native American Affairs Assistant. “Being put in charge of organizing and creating our Women’s History Month (WHM) 2024 calendar and collaborating with every office in the Multicultural Department led to a calendar of events with inspiring and interesting events that highlight women. It’s been an incredible time for acquiring new skills.”

PNM continues to utilize technology to test new ways to bring reliable, sustainable and affordable energy to New Mexicans
PNM, Block Energy, and Tierra Que Canta announce residential microgrid pilot
(Albuquerque, NM) – A residential microgrid pilot is being deployed in the Las Campanas housing development in Santa Fe. The 22-home subdivision, Tierra Que Canta, will include the installation of a Block Energy microgrid with distributed solar and storage directly connected to the distribution system to power the homes and provide energy to the rest of the grid.
ENMU Hosts 25th Annual Cynthia Irwin-Williams Lectureship

Portales, NM – February 27, 2024 – The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Anthropology and Applied Archaeology hosts its 25th annual Cynthia Irwin-Williams Lectureship at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, in room 110 of the Art and Anthropology Building.
The featured guest speaker will be Dr. Kristina Baines, Associate Professor of Anthropology at CUNY Guttman Community College and Director of Anthropology for Cool Anthropology. Baines will present on “Heritage in the Body: Sensory Ecologies of Health Practice in Times of Change.” Baines will share how members of two Belizean indigenous communities, the Maya and the Garifuna, maintain and adapt heritage practices through changes in Belize and after migration to urban cities in the US.
