Hulda Wilhelmina Mahler Kennett, 90, of Bayard, New Mexico passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Silver City Care Center.

A visitation will be held August 1, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Bright Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Rosary at 5 p.m. recited by the family. A Funeral Service will then take place August 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Bayard with Father Paulus Kao officiating. Interment following at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Hulda was born June 7, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was the daughter of Hulda Jenny (Roukola) and Ludwig Mahler. She married Frank Daniel Kennett on March 18, 1959 in Silver City, New Mexico.

Hulda is survived by three sons, Frank Daniel Kennett Jr. of Bayard, NM, Jack Parker of Albuquerque, NM, and Donald Parker of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Bonnie (Parker) Sabin and her husband, Edward of St. Louis, MO and Elsie Parker, also of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Gus, Lara, Christopher, Nicholas, Mary, and Karin; three great-grandchildren, Tessa, Haley, and Timothy; brother Carl Mahler of Chino, CA, sister Joan Woodward and her husband David of Tyrone, NM; nieces Laura Myer and her husband Tito, Rachel Wagner, Carol Crosby and her husband Timothy Reed, Jennifer Ware and her husband, Susie Garrison and her husband Gary; nephew Bill Woodward and his wife Martha and their children. Her cousins Horst Mahler and Inge Klein reside in Germany.

Hulda was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wayne Mahler, her sisters Esther Mahler, Martha (Mahler) Crosby, and her infant sister.

Hulda was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish for many years. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, family history and Southwest history, civic responsibility, music, sewing, and reading widely. She will be greatly missed.
