Elmer Reese rsElmer "Ed" Edward Reese, 84, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Fort Bayard Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.

He was born September 4, 1932 in Black Mountain, North Carolina to Benjamin Franklin Reese Sr. and Carrie Morrow Reese.

He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Reese and his family settled in Silver City in 1959. He and Carol purchased Silver Lanes in the early 1980's and moved the business to its current location. Mr. Reese was a dedicated father and husband, who loved to coach his sons and many other youth in the game of baseball. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and he loved to fish. Mr. Reese will be remembered as a kind, loving father, grandfather and friend to anyone who met him.

He is survived by his wife, Carol and three sons, Michael Edward Reese and wife Barbara of Albuquerque; Timothy David Reese and wife Paula of Glendale, AZ; Steven K. Reese and wife Carmen of Silver City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, four living brothers, Cecil Reese, Robert "Bob" Reese, George Daniel Reese, and Oliver Reese. He had one living sister, Marjorie Charles.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffrey Stephen Reese, parents, three brothers, Charlie, Wayne, and Benjamin Jr. Reese; three sisters, Sadie Tillis, Valerie Charles, and Connie Mack.

Public visitation will be Wednesday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 12 noon with Pastor Michael Head officiating. Concluding service an interment will be at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at 1 p.m. with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Vallejos, Cody Schellhase, Joe Chapman, Eulalio and Samuel Rodriguez, and Micah Reese.
