Lupe S. Rodriguez, 71, a resident of Lordsburg, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.
He was born September 30, 1945 in Lordsburg, NM to Salvador Rodriguez and Pauline Saucedo Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the NM National Guard.
"Lupito" enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed being outdoors. He worked years as a service station attendant
in Lordsburg, Las Cruces, and Wyoming. He worked at Phelps Dodge in Playas from 1976 till 1999 when he retired. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, fill-in puzzles, and spent lots of hours playing his freecell game. He also enjoyed different types of music. He was known for always wanting to hear Credence Clearwater Revival. He loved old movies and westerns especially John Wayne.
He is survived by his loving wife Manuela Nellie Rodriguez of the family home; one son, Ruben Rodriguez and wife Sarah of Casper, WY; two daughters, Sally Rodriguez of Lordsburg; Lisa Reichbach of Chicago; five grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Rodriguez and wife Vinni of Hutto, TX; Eddie Rodriguez of Morenci, AZ; Jerry Rodriguez and wife Julia of Rio Rancho, NM; two sisters, Delia Bermudez and husband Antonio of Lordsburg; Stella Gonzalez and husband Edwardo of Lordsburg; two sisters-in-law, Lorenza Rodriguez of Tucson, AZ; Joann Finley of Las Cruces; two brothers-in-law, Mario and Lorenzo Delgoado of Lordsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald Robertson, and one brother, George Rodriguez.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 25 from 9-10am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the holy rosary to begin at 10 a.m. with Alice Ramirez reciting. The funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Jude officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow with full military honors at Shakespeare cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Fernie Aquino, Chris Gomez, Robert and Michael Bermudez, Jacob Rodriguez, Raymond Madero, Joseph, and Chris Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray, Eddie, and Jerry Rodriguez, Antonio "Tato" Bermudez, Lalo Gonzalez, Lorenzo and Mario Delgado, Ruben Rodriguez, Christopher Reichbach, Ronnie Gonzales, and Tony "Gallo" Gandarilla.
