MurilloRamonRay “Monchi” Murillo, 79, former resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest at his granddaughter’s home in Phoenix, AZ after battling COPD. Monchi, was born to Adan and Estela Grijalva in March of 1944 in Silver City, NM, where he also received education.

He later joined the U.S Navy serving our country as a Gunners mate from 1960-1964. He returned home after serving and worked underground at the Santa Rita mines for many years. Although many knew Monchi as a man of a few words, he was also known as the life of the party. Throw on some “Baby, I like it” and he was ready to bust out the moves. He loved to dance, not only did he dance but he sang to his grandchildren too. He also loved traveling, camping and his all-time favorite hobby was cruising downtown in his Chevy.

Ray Murillo is survived by his beloved wife, Lorena Murillo, his 5 children; Lori, Blanca, Kenny & Javier (Carlos Murillo 1974- 2013). His 16 grandchildren; Adrian, Carla, Sabrina, Damien, Sianna, Junior, Raymond, Crystal, Josephine, (Charlie Murillo 1992-2017) Christopher, Michael, Joshua, Brandon, Alexander, Destiny, his great grandchildren; nieces & nephews, sisters Eva & Lilly and friends who were family, Louie & Renee, Marcy, Stephanie, Valerie, Drew and their husbands and wives as well as his brothers and sisters in law and childhood friend John Madrid

Visitation will be Friday, November 10th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Art Gutierrez to commence at 6pm.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 11th at 10am at St Francis Newman Center with Father Marti Okonkwo officiating.  Concluding service and interment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery.  Pallbearers are Damian Olea, Jose Gomez, Chris Garcia, Michael Garcia, Joey Murillo, Junior Aguero, Xavier Rea, and Raymond Aguero.
