LeeBBarbara Jane Mattocks Lee, 94, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at her residence.  She was born June 18, 1929 in Mimbres, NM to Ralph Mattocks and Esther Matthews.

Barbara grew up on the Mimbres river, one of eight kids. She finished high school in Silver City, NM and later graduated from nursing school in 1964 from St. Mary's Nursing School in Roswell, NM with her LPN degree. She worked as a nurse in the old Hillcrest Hospital, Med Square Clinic and Occupational Health Resources, where she was highly thought of. Barbara was known to most as 'granny' and carried that title proudly. She loved her family very much. She taught her grandkids and great grandkids math, reading and cooking after school. She loved to do crossword puzzles, play cards, work in the garden and quilt and sew. Granny was also a constant spectator at grandkids events like football, baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, animal showing or whatever the kids were busy with. Granny was often seen cheering on her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys and passed that love down to her own kids. She had a strong faith in God and was baptized in 1952 in Clovis, NM. Her faith saw her through some very trying times. We will carry that faith with us and in our memories of our granny.

She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce O’Loughlin and Esther Morgan (Gary) and her grandkids, Bryan Walker (D’Ana), Preston Walker (Kendra), Kelley Riddle (Donny), Vance O’Loughlin (Lurdes), Amanda Stern (Jason), Shawn Jameson, Bo Morgan (Kristen), Amber Wetzel (Shane) and Melissa Cordes (Josh) and numerous great and great-great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kent Lee; her son, Ralph Walker; her grandson Reno Walker; her brothers, Claude, Mason, and Jerry Mattocks; her sisters, Verna Miller, Wanda Arnold, Ena Osborn and Faye Belle Mitchell.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January, 11, 2024 at 11am at the Copper Ridge Fellowship Church in Arenas Valley, NM.

Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.
