UCI responds to request for more information on trans athlete winning Women's Tour of the Gila

Please be informed that the UCI acknowledges that transgender athletes may wish to compete in accordance with their gender identity.
In March 2020, the UCI published rules governing the participation of transgender athletes in events on the UCI International Calendar in the category corresponding to their new gender identity.
With a view to promoting the integration of transgender athletes into competitive sport, while maintaining fairness, equal opportunities and the safety of competitions, an update of the eligibility rules was announced in 2022. FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR THE LOWLANDS AND MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO... .Conditions dry out on today as the plume of moisture departs to the east. A deep upper trough over the Great Basin will induce a moderately strong surface low in southeast Colorado and result in breezy conditions for Friday. Temperatures remain near average for early May with deep thermal mixing during the afternoon and even drier air than today. Southwest winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected on Friday. Minimum RHs will be 7 to 10 percent in the lowlands and 10 to 15 percent in the mountains excluding the Sacramento Mountains. Fire weather conditions will improve Friday night as winds subside and relative humidity recovers above critical levels.

I-10 westbound lanes are now open in Arizona. Removed from NM Roads.
[Editor's Note: If you plan a trip to Tucson today, plan on extra hours for detour! Yesterday it was 2.5 hours around the Chiricahuas.]

ROAD CLOSURE
ARIZONA CRASH- Lordsburg Area
I-10 westbound lanes at milepost 5 are closed due to a crash on the Arizona side of I-10. Westbound traffic is being detoured onto NM 80 (Road Forks). Motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and watch for emergency personnel, and equipment. Please expect delays.
Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) highly recommended to continue to use I-25 north to I-40 west. No oversized loads are permitted into AZ on I-10.
Update 1:
According to https://www.kold.com/2023/05/03/i-10-closed-after-deadly-crash-us-191-west-willcox/ , the detour has changed for westbound traffic. The incident happened at milepost 331 west of Willcox.
Gila National Forest holds public meeting on Grapevine Campground 050123

On May 1, 2023, staff members from the Gila National Forest invited the public to interact at several tables set in the large meeting room at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center. Forest Service personnel stood at each table to answer questions and explain, using Forest Service maps, the several options for camping they had developed for the public to comment on.
The purpose of the meeting was for members of the public to talk to GNF personnel to hear from them, as well as express opinions on options to deal with the closure of the Grapevine Campground on the Gila River near Gila Hot Springs.

Over the weekend, transgender cyclist Austin Killips competed in the women's Tour of the Gila tournament, a major Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)-sanctioned competition in Silver City, New Mexico. UCI is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland.
