Two-acre fire/getting out of hand/not near any structures/ in the middle of a field in a pasture/growing rapidly/CGVFD received the page @ 2:03 p.m./caller advised the wind is about13 mph/nearest structure would be about four miles/caller advised cattle are in the pasture but are okay/fire started due to them working on a pipeline and it sparked.

Caller advised she was in a verbal-only domestic and the male pulled out a gun and pointed it at his head/after that he walked into another room and caller heard a click/unknown if the gun is loaded/happened about 12 minutes ago. Deputy – male left prior to arrival.

Caller found a knife with blood on it in locker 26/caller has the knife in the back of the post office. Deputy advised he will take the call.

Caller said her son lives with her but he left her house a week ago/he has been calling and texting and cussing at her and she wants to report it.

Photo credit: Val WestonThe Tapestry of Talent Fiber Art Fashion show, a fundraiser for the SW Women's Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC) features wearable fiber art and accessories. The fiber art fashions made by members of SWFAC showcase one-of-a-kind designs constructed especially for the event. The show will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1 pm with doors opening at 12:30 pm at the historic Silco Theater located at 311 N. Bullard St. in downtown Silver City. Funds raised by the event will go to support classes, outreach to the community, and sales events.
SWFAC was founded in 2005 to provide rural fiber artists a means to earn income, share fiber art skills with others and promote fiber art as a cottage industry. The fashion show not only raises funds for SWFAC but provides income to the members that sell their work at the show.

Martha Cooper will talk about The Nature Conservancy's New Mexico freshwater conservation priorities and our collaboration with partners to restore or mimic natural processes on rivers and in watersheds in New Mexico. She will share their work along the Gila and Mimbres Rivers in Southwest New Mexico, describe our statewide freshwater strategies, highlight the Jicarilla Apache Nation Water Sharing Agreement in the San Juan Basin, and close with an update about the Rio Grande Water Fund, a water-source protection program in Northern New Mexico.
