* At 809 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Trout Fire Burn Scar. Up to 0.5 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Pinos Altos, NM — The Grant County Sheriff's Department is investigating a series of recent burglaries that occurred in the Pinos Altos area on August 18 and 19, 2025. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to protect their property.
At this time, investigators are actively pursuing leads and working to identify the individuals responsible. The Sheriff's Department is asking the public to assist by reporting any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities in the area.
To report suspicious activity, please contact Central Dispatch at 575-388-8840 immediately.

Oklahoma City, OK – August 10, 2025 –Grant County 4-H members Reece and Rowan McSpadden proudly represented their community at the AQHYA World Championship Show Horse Judging Contest, held August 1–10 in Oklahoma City.
The prestigious contest brought together 163 contestants from across the nation, competing in three divisions: limited, junior, and senior. Reece and Rowan both competed in the limited division, where participants judged eight different horse classes and answered detailed questions about selected classes to test their knowledge and critical thinking.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, the Gough Park parking lot filled with shoppers checking out all the offerings of native plants from cacti to shrubs to trees ready to plant to flowers, accompanied by lots of information to go along with the plants and planting from organizations from the area.
The annual Native Plant Sale hosted by the Gila Native Plant Society offers to plant enthusiasts a variety of native plants and the information about taking care of them.

Defender of Rabbit fired by Sheriff Villanueva.

On Friday, the sheriff's deputy, Alejandro Gomez who allegedly killed the baby rabbit, was fired by Sheriff Villanueva along with the two supervisors who laughed while the incident occurred.
The deputy, Marcus Salas, who tried to defend the rabbit from his fellow officers, was also fired. A source has said that the reason for Salas's firing was that he failed to act. The source also said that that Villanueva didn't like Salas because he brought attention to this event.
When one reads the transcript or watches the video, it is evident that the situation was three against one with Gomez threatening Salas with his taser.
