Garden Celebration by the Gila Native Plant Society
Silva Creek Botanical Garden, N. Virginia and State Streets, Silver City, NM
Silva Creek Botanical Garden, a project of the Gila Native Plant Society and the Town of Silver City, will celebrate the completion of several exciting new additions. The family-friendly events include a puppet show, brief talks, and hands-on activities in botanical art, science, and archaeology. Volunteers will be on hand to explain each of the new areas, and visitors can admire the beautiful ceramic murals created by the Youth Mural Program. Free and open to the whole community. ALBUQUERQUE, NM – September 25, 2025 – Beginning October 1, the public may encounter contract employees conducting public surveys on the Gila National Forest and Cibola National Forest & Grasslands in developed and dispersed recreation sites and along forest service roads. Surveys will be conducted through September 30, 2026.
The National Visitor Use Monitoring survey is a Forest Service program designed to estimate how many people actually recreate on national forests and grasslands, what activities they engage in while there, and how satisfied people were with their visit. These surveys are conducted on a national forest every five years.
The BLM and NMSLO is holding public meetings to discuss proposed land swaps.
